OFFICIAL REPORT (HANSARD)

Speaker: The Honourable Andrew Scheer
ORAL QUESTIONS
Housing
Mr. Mike Sullivan (York South—Weston, NDP):
Mr. Speaker, facts are facts and Canadians are going hungry. This fall, reports showed record food bank use and Campaign 2000 yesterday reported that one child in seven is still living in poverty. Both also point to affordable housing as key to solving the problem. Provincial, territorial and municipal governments are committed to providing affordable housing but the Conservatives are missing in action.
The NDP has the solution. The only question is, will the Conservatives support our national affordable housing strategy?
Hon. Diane Finley (Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, CPC):
Mr. Speaker, once again, the NDP talks, we take action. Under the economic action plan, there were 27,000 new affordable housing units created. We did that in spite of NDP opposition. We provide funding for over 600,000 affordable units
